ABS PUMP, MODULE AND HYDRAULIC UNITS COMBINED – TEST AND REBUILD.

Modern automotive ABS pumps are no longer simple pumps; they have evolved into highly complex and self-contained ABS control systems. In the early days of ABS, components were distributed throughout the vehicle, making the system cumbersome and requiring a larger wiring harness. However, to enhance efficiency and save space and weight, contemporary ABS units are now integrated into a single compact unit, commonly referred to as the ABS Pump. This consolidated unit comprises three essential components:

ABS Module

The ABS module serves as the controller for the entire ABS system. Mounted on top of the ABS unit, it reads various parameters such as wheel speeds, vehicle acceleration, braking effort, brake fluid pressure, and data from the engine and gearbox systems. The module calculates the precise braking force needed for each wheel during emergency braking, operating control solenoids within the ABS hydraulic block. Common issues with the ABS module include communication problems, internal control module faults, and continuous ABS motor operation.

ABS Hydraulic Unit

The hydraulic unit manages brake fluid pressure for each road wheel independently. When the ABS module activates solenoids within the hydraulic block, it controls the pintle valves to regulate pressure to each wheel. The hydraulic unit contains a pump generating the necessary pressure for high-speed wheel lock and release intervals. Failures in ABS hydraulic units can lead to fluid leaks or pressure sensor malfunctions.

ABS Motor

Attached to the bottom of the hydraulic unit, the ABS motor drives the pump during emergency braking, activated by the ABS module. Constant ABS motor operation may indicate internal shorting of the ABS module or motor failure due to water ingress or component breakdown.

Test and Rebuild Process

When sending your ABS pump for testing and rebuilding, it is advisable to send the entire unit without separating its components. The ABS unit undergoes testing on specialized Hardware In-the-Loop (HIL) test rigs, simulating various wheel speed and driving load conditions. After identifying faults, the unit is rebuilt with higher-rated components, followed by a re-test to ensure it meets manufacturers’ specifications.

Programming

Most modern ABS pumps come pre-coded, and during the test and rebuild process, all programming information is retained, ensuring the unit is ready for vehicle installation.

Quality Assurance

ABS units are tested, rebuilt, and supplied to franchise main dealers and workshops globally. Stringent quality control standards result in a minimal defect rate (less than 0.49%), ensuring a high standard of work.

How to Get Your Unit Rebuilt

  1. Find your unit in the product catalogue.
  2. Select the ‘Get Yours Rebuilt’ option.
  3. Print the payment/booking confirmation email.
  4. Package the ABS pump and module securely with the confirmation email.
  5. Send the package via tracked courier.
  6. Upon receipt, the unit is tested, rebuilt, and returned with an unlimited mileage lifetime warranty.

No Upfront Payment Option

If you prefer not to pay upfront, submit a repair form, print the booking confirmation email, package the ABS unit securely, and send it via tracked courier. After testing, if the unit is faulty and you choose to proceed with the rebuild, payment can be made over the phone with a debit/credit card. The ABS pump and module are then rebuilt and returned with an unlimited mileage warranty.
