Water Ingress Issues:

Fault codes U3000 – 49 and U3000 – 53 may be triggered by water ingress on the column side of the steering rack. The water enters around the bulkhead boot and the joint housing, damaging the torque sensor. Excessive mechanical resistance within the power steering rack, causing code C102D – 00, is often due to water ingress on the module side of the rack.

Battery Voltage Related Issue:

Code U3000 – 96 is usually logged with code U3003 – 13 – Battery Voltage. This occurs when the power steering attempts to function with low battery voltage. Rectifying the battery voltage issue can clear this fault code.

Solution:

Repair is not a viable option due to severe water damage, particularly to the main bearing. The recommended solution is to order a replacement rack, motor, and ECU. Options include visiting the dealership or ordering replacements from specialists such as WPS.
